As a Laboratory Assistant Float, you are responsible for obtaining quality blood samples and other specimens from patients, as well as conducting other patient tests, all in keeping with Dynacare’s mission and values. Working as part of a team, you are assisting in building a positive team environment and maintaining quality metrics. You also play an important role in providing customer service to create the best possible patient experience. These can be stressful situations for patients, and you need to display empathy, care, and kindness.Status: Permanent Full Time. Vacancy type: Existing. Shift: Day Shift, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 6:30 am – 5:30 pm and half day on alternate Saturdays. Work Style: On Site. Location: Chamberland St., Rockland, St. Joseph Blvd. Ottawa, Louise St. Winchester, Kemptville and Embrun. Internal Posting Deadline: Friday, February 6, 2026.ResponsibilitiesCreate an ideal customer experience that is best in class and engages with individuals around our products and servicesAccurately enter data, patient, and test information for Ministry of Health requisitionsObtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients, using skillful venipuncture techniques, performed in keeping with Dynacare’s mission and valuesSort and steer specimens, perform ECGs, Holter Hookups, paternity, urine, drug and breath alcohol collectionsEnsure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as required in SOPs and ready for data entry and transportation to the laboratory, following established protocols for the handling of suitable and unsuitable samplesEnsure all confidential information is maintained in a secure fashion. Contribute to meeting the departmental/corporate quality metrics, regulatory compliance and quality indicatorsQualificationsYou have completed Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or a Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomyYou are customer-focused with a genuine care for patient’s healthDemonstrate skill in phlebotomy, with the ability to manage anxious patients through the sample obtaining process in a pleasant, calming and reassuring mannerPrioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environmentBe extremely detail orientedProficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables you to communicate instructions, clearly and understandably, to patientsWorking ConditionsMedical laboratory environmentMay be required to lift a maximum of 30 poundsRepetitive movements with frequent computer useAt times might require frequent standing, sitting, bending, etc.Pay rate: $20.00-$23.75 per hourThe hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.At Dynacare, we may leverage AI-powered tools in our recruitment process.
