Requisition ID: 179093 Job Level: Mid Level Home District/Group: Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Department: Environmental Market: Nuclear Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Specialist is responsible for advising on environmental compliance requirements as well as developing and maintaining environmental management plans to comply with the regulatory requirements. Location Darlington, ON. Responsibilities Advise on Environmental management requirements during the project execution phases to ensure compliance with legislation and guidelines. Develop and maintain environmental management plans and procedures. Provide guidance and coach/mentor project management and staff in the execution of field activities that require the engagement of the environmental management plan. Perform soil and surface water sampling and testing when required, and advise on analyzing samples. Provide project-level coordination, monitoring, and control. Provide site level environmental, health & safety leadership. Effective and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders. Coordination of contractors, visitors, and customer at site level. Tracking and controlling projects using digital tools provided. Participate in environmental audits, assessments and inspections. Be aware of new environmental legal requirements and amendments to existing requirements coming into effect and interpret as to applicability to the projects. Prepare documentation to facilitate compliance to legal and other requirements; obtain/provide interpretation of requirements, as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental or Geoscience/Earth Science. 3-5+ years of relevant post-graduation experience. Comprehensive understanding of the soil properties and soil management. Knowledge in erosion and sedimentation processes. An understanding in hazardous materials and waste management. An understanding of air quality, noise and vibration studies. An understanding and knowledge of groundwater dewatering and water treatment practices. Experience conducting Environmental Site Assessments. Comprehensive understanding of industry standard environmental site assessment practices and processes. Understanding of hydrogeology, contaminant transport and geology. Valid G Driver License. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. May work at various different locations and conditions may vary. Openings are to fill both existing vacancies and newly created positions. Base Compensation $90,000/yr - $110,000/yr.
