The role ensures work is performed according to established processes and practices and compliant with environmental, health and safety, and fire protection requirements. In addition to people leadership, the Maintenance Team Leader also performs and delivers preventative and corrective maintenance as well as routine and on-demand services.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesPeople LeadershipLeads a team of individual contributorsAssigns, prioritizes and monitors work progressMonitors execution of activities and performance to ensure timely completion and adherence to all requirements including procedures, quality, performance and contract responseGuides, coaches and trains direct reportsProvides input for performance reviewLeads the delivery of as well as performs the followingOversees and monitors the activities and performance of Technicians within the assigned facility. Ensures activities are performed in accordance with established processes and internal/external requirements including environmental, health and safety, fire protectionOversees proper application and execution of processes to ensure adherence to all requirementsOversees and performs regular facility, mechanical and electrical equipment and system monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to meet uptime objectives and asset integrity; provides observations and recommendations for enhancement and repairOversees facility walkthroughs and system monitoring and inspectionOversees and maintains, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical building systems and equipmentOversees on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective maintenance on facility systemsMaintains work order records within the service management database and initiates documents for formal approval of work requiredCoordinates and assists in implementing preventative maintenance programs; ensures deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and related documentation is maintainedCoordinates and participates in facility-related projectsOversees and maintains tools, arranges for repair/replacement, and submits expenditures promptlyProvides and supports training, safety meetings, operational meetings, toolbox talks, etc.Willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency calloutsAssists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through service deliveryOther duties as assignedWork RequirementsMust be available to be on-call and respond to emergenciesMust be willing to wear personal protective equipmentKnowledge And Skills5 years of facility operations and maintenance work experiencePrevious people leadership experience, preferredHigh school diploma plus trades training and certificationAbility to lead a team of individualsStrong adherence to processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenanceAbility to maintain and repair building mechanical and electrical equipment and systemsStrong troubleshooting and resolution skills for building systemsCurrent knowledge of fire, life safety and building codes and standards and ability to apply related codes and standardsHigh level of environmental, health and safety mindset; ability to perform work safelyStrong client-service orientation with a sense of urgencyEffective communication skills for data relay, feedback, and clarificationLicenses and/or Professional AccreditationOne or more of the following would be an asset:Journeyman level Refrigeration licenseJourneyman level Electrical licenseJourneyman level Plumbing licensePower Engineering 3rd Class or 4th ClassBuilding Operator CertificationGasfitter I or IISystems Maintenance Administration CertificationAt BGIS we believe that diversity and inclusion is a key business driver and we strive for barrier-free recruitment with equal employment opportunities.
