Participants will interact and play through music, visual art, movement and drama. The goal of the program is to enable participants to have fun through creative, sensory and social experiences and to provide respite relief to families during the March Break school holiday March Break school holiday (March 16-20, 2026). Successful candidates must be flexible to participate in training after business hours or on weekends. Mandatory meetings and training sessions are being held on Friday February 6, 2026 (evening hours), Saturday, March 7 (day time hours) and a full day of prep on Saturday March 14, 2026.The Rest and Relaxation Artist facilitates Rest and Relaxation, with a partner for rotating groups of children/youth with disabilities supported by staff and volunteers, during the camp day. They are an effective communicator and collaborator and a compassionate leader and team player who enables the engagement and choice making of the participants. They support and encourage the strengths of participants, staff, and volunteers.Key ResponsibilitiesTo lead the Rest and Relaxation activity area with a partnerTo plan and deliver rest and relaxation activities, e.g. sensory activities, gentle yoga/stretching, with the artistic team to accommodate diverse needs of participantsDemonstrated ability to enable the rest and relaxation of othersTo work with an integrated group of children and youth using various forms of rest and relaxationContribute to planning meetings/initiate/develop program of activities for the weekAssist safe participation of clientsSupervise lunch/break times of clients as neededCollaborate with program staff, volunteers and familiesWork as a team member, with Care Team and Artistic Team, in order to ensure programming goals are metOther duties as assignedQualificationsBFA or college diploma/certificate in recreation, rest and relaxation or equivalentPreferred education & experience rest and relaxation techniques and training/skills related to children and youth with physical and developmental disabilities and those who are neurodivergentAdditional related skill set such as gardening, drama, visual arts or music an assetMinimum of one-year experience in the practice of recreation, rest and relaxation facilitation; 1:1 and group facilitationDemonstrated expertise in planning, implementing and evaluating music programsDemonstrated ability to encourage full participation in activity areaMust be flexible, have the ability to assess the needs of individuals and quickly respond to needsDemonstrated ability to work in collaboration with staff/clients/familiesDemonstrated organizational skills and ability to efficiently manage working hoursSound judgment, communication and ability to work independently at timesAbility to lift, transfer, position, & feed participants ages 4 to 18 independently if neededAbility to guide volunteers and Client Service AssistantsAbility to take direction #J-18808-Ljbffr
