The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer with experience in power generation to join our teams located in any of our Canadian offices, with a preference for Calgary, AB. Candidates will work on a range of challenging projects in the Energy division, applying structural engineering principles, dynamic analysis, and finite‑element modeling (SAP2000, ETABS, S‑Frame, STAAD Pro, Dyna6). The role requires strong problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. What you can expect to do here Establish design criteria, prepare engineering specifications, and perform detailed calculations and material take‑offs (MTO) in accordance with project requirements. Support planning, scheduling, and cost‑control activities related to the Project Plan. Propose solutions for process improvement and resolve complex problems using multidisciplinary analysis. Contribute to knowledge transfer by coaching and peer‑reviewing less experienced professionals and technicians. Participate in planning and implementation of large, complex projects requiring innovative solutions. Conduct on‑site inspections as required. Develop detailed civil and structural designs, including concrete foundations, piling, and steel structures. Prepare documentation for engineering hours budgets, schedules, work plans, tender documents, technical reports, and project calculations. Assign tasks and provide directions to technical support staff. Maintain working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams. Ensure quality assurance and integrity of electronic handover of deliverables. Review and stamp drawings (as required) using design codes and regulatory requirements. Assist in training and reviewing the work of junior engineering personnel. Communicate with internal peers and project teams to address deliverable questions. What you’ll bring to WSP A university degree in Structural Engineering (MSc or PhD an asset). Registered as a P.Eng or a PE in a Canadian or U.S. provincial engineering association. 5+ years of experience in civil/structural design for the energy industry, ideally power plants and rotating equipment. Proficiency in structural analysis software (SAP2000, ETABS, S‑Frame, STAAD Pro, Dyna6). Experience with Python is an asset. Strong report‑writing skills. Familiarity with relevant design codes for concrete and steel structures and current industrial standards. Proficient in MS Office.
