OverviewCo-op Software Engineer - Deep Learning Compiler Development (12-16 months)Huawei Canada has a 12-16-month Co-op opening for a Software Engineer.About the teamInitially founded in 1991 as Huawei's ASIC Design Center, the IC Lab is a leading global fabless semiconductor lab. This lab delivers trusted, cutting-edge semiconductor products and services for smart devices, contributing to smart home and mobility solutions. The local team in Canada specializes in semiconductors, and chipset solutions.About the jobResponsibilities and expectations for this co-op role focus on deep learning compiler development and integration with hardware accelerators to improve inference performance in wireless applications.ResponsibilitiesProfile and analyze deep learning models to identify and resolve bottlenecks in the inference process with the end goal of increasing wireless application performance.Design, develop, and maintain optimized code in both C++ and Python for the low-level and high-level components of deep learning inference systems.Support the integration and optimization of specialized hardware accelerators (such as GPUs, TPUs, or AI-specific chips), driving improvements in speed, efficiency, and real-time performance for wireless applications.Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and reliable code while learning from experienced engineers.Work alongside a team of experienced engineers who will provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship, helping you grow your skills and increase your impact.QualificationsCurrently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Experience and proficiency in C++ and Python.Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, such as algorithms and data structures.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.Strong communication skills and a passion for learning and contributing to innovative projects.Seniority levelInternshipEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering and Information TechnologyIndustriesTelecommunicationsNotes: Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Huawei Canada by 2x.
