Supervising Technician (English Services) (On‑Site) Position Title: Supervising Technician (English Services) (On‑Site) Status of Employment: Permanent Position Language Requirement: English Work at CBC/Radio-Canada We create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Key Responsibilities Maintains familiarity with technical or production installations and associated equipment. Conducts surveys and prepares detailed reports. Acts as a consultant, providing assistance and advice on operational requirements in terms of equipment, facilities and personnel; creates, edits and produces written documentation on equipment and workflows. Plans, assigns, schedules, coordinates and checks the work of assigned staff and reports on matters related to job performance, conduct and safety. Trains new staff and advises management on their progress; arranges training. Verifies the accuracy of time reports and work performed. Undertakes reviews of operations, operating procedures, technical standards and maintenance activities; submits recommendations for improvements or modifications. Recommends safety procedures, plans and maintains safety measures and programs for personnel, property and equipment. Reviews, investigates and verifies reports and institutes any action as necessary. Within delegated authority and in consultation with the supervisor: Commits the corporation in arranging, with outside persons or firms, for the provision of supplies or services. Reviews or directs such arrangements. Verifies delivery of material or completion of service. As assigned or required, may perform any or all of the following tasks: Within delegated limits, hire staff for casual requirements. Provide specialized assistance and work in close consultation with Engineers and Technologists. Provide input to the budget process. Participate in the selection and evaluation of new staff. Perform all or part of the function or duties of equivalent or lower classifications. Qualifications Bilingual requirement. Community college graduation in Radio or Television arts courses, or equivalent industry experience. Minimum 4 years of directly related experience. Superior knowledge and understanding of radio or television program production and presentation methods, including understanding how different areas interrelate. Valid standard full driver’s licence required. Knowledge of SNG and transmission technology is a bonus. Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
