Location: Powell River/qathet Regional DistrictSalary Or Wage: $42.56 per hourJob Type: Full TimeList of RequirementsDegree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized programCurrent full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).Minimum two (2) years of recent, related experience in community or mental health settings.Experience with trauma-informed and harm-reduction approaches preferred.Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for local travel may be required.Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance.SkillsCommitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety and inclusive, client-centred careExperience working with diverse populations, including mental health and substance useKnowledge of occupational therapy principles, rehabilitation practices, and assessmentsUnderstanding of determinants of health, health promotion, and community resourcesStrong assessment, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teamsStrong communication and relationship-building skills with clients, families, and partnersExperience recommending adaptive aids and rehabilitation equipmentLeadership and consultation skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office, EMRs, and client care systemsCPR certification (or willingness to obtain)Physical ability to perform job dutiesWorking Condition and Physical RequirementsBased within housing and community health settings, including in-office and outreach environments.May work with individuals experiencing complex trauma, substance use, or behavioural challenges; requires calm and compassionate responses.Involves moderate physical activity including walking, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.Requires flexibility to attend community meetings or client sessions outside standard hours.List of DutiesThe Occupational Therapist works collaboratively within the multidisciplinary qathet Complex Care Housing (CCH) team to assist clients in developing the skills, confidence, and capacity to engage meaningfully in daily life activities.The role supports individuals with mental health, substance use, and physical challenges by assessing functional abilities, adapting environments, and guiding clients toward improved participation, independence, and quality of life.Reports to: Community Health Services ManagerWork site:Complex Care Housing (New Roots Clinic)We appreciate all applications, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.How to ApplyTo apply for this job please use one of the methods listed below:Lift's Employment Services posts this position as a free service for the community.
