We’re on the search for Naval Architects, who will play a major role in supporting senior engineers on a variety of new construction and repair projects at our clients’ shipyards. The positions offer the opportunity to contribute to the design and analysis of cutting‑edge vessels, including fisheries, icebreaking, and naval replenishment ships. Working under the guidance of the Senior Naval Architect or task leaders, you will participate in all phases of design—from requirements decomposition and concept development to engineering execution and project close‑out—helping to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant ship designs. Base pay range CA$35.00/hr - CA$50.00/hr Please note that the posted pay range for this role may vary based on seniority, qualifications, or prior experience. Responsibilities Support senior engineers in the development of naval architecture designs by preparing calculation packages to ensure compliance with contract requirements. Contribute to structural design efforts, producing detailed calculations and documentation that meet engineering and classification standards. Assist in the preparation and review of design documentation for various vessel types to obtain customer, Classification Society, and regulatory approvals. Develop material specifications and bills of material aligned with client strategies and project requirements. Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, providing input on stability, structural integrity, and performance. Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and engineering best practices while adhering to project schedules and deliverables. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture (required). Minimum of 5 years of post-secondary experience in naval architecture or a related marine engineering field. Experience in shipyard environments or with vessel construction projects is considered an asset. Knowledge of stability, resistance, powering, and seakeeping calculations as well as basic structural design principles. Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with naval architecture software such as GHS or similar tools. Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng.
