Together, we’ll push boundaries and go above what’s expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better worldAs an Electrical Technician in protection and control (P&C), you will be able to participate in the design of high-level diagrams, the development of the protection philosophy and contribute to large-scale electrical energy projects. You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and develop skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, particularly on substation projects, hydroelectric power plants and renewable energy projects with many clients across Canada. You will have the opportunity to take part in our hybrid work model that includes flexible work hours, including 2 days per week in our St. John's, NL, Saint John, NB, or Dartmouth, NS offices.Job ResponsibilitiesDesign Protection & Control systems with 2D software (AutoCAD)Prepare project deliverables including detail drawings, electrical schematics, layouts, equipment sizing, etc.Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the execution of technical tasksPrepare plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications providedParticipate in the development of electrical Control and Protection systems, including single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, three-wire AC diagrams, protection and control diagrams, wiring drawings, device connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists and specifications for the manufacture and installation on site of Control and Protection panelsParticipate in the development of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, AC and DC load calculations, AC & DC distribution diagrams, connection drawings of chargers, batteries, inverter, etc.Participate in site surveys (substations and power stations)Coordinate with the engineering disciplines: apparatus, civil, mechanical and building in order to develop design solutions for optimized and advanced substation and power plant systemsAbility to carry out site work sporadically when the opportunity arises (start-up or monitoring)QualificationsCollege Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technologies or equivalent related discipline5+ years of relevant experienceBasic knowledge of the MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)Knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is an assetWork experience in the design of electrical systems is an assetExperience in detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities in Canada, an assetExperience using AutoCAD software is an assetWhy choose CIMA+?Comprehensive Group Benefits available from day one for all permanent employees working at least 20 hours per weekEmployee and Family Assistance ProgramRetirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with up to 4% employer contributionAs an employee-owned company, an annual opportunity to purchase shares for all employeesFlexible work schedule in a hybrid work modeWork/Life balance policy across Canada3-5 weeks of vacation, based on years of relevant experienceTailored training to improve your existing skillsAdditional InformationEthics and integrity are fundamental values at CIMA+.
