Sr. Engineering Specialist – High Voltage & Interconnection 📍 Calgary or Edmonton Full-time Direct Hire Description We are seeking a seasoned engineering professional to provide technical leadership for utility-scale renewable power generation projects—including solar, wind, and battery storage (BESS). In this senior role, you will oversee high-voltage (HV) electrical systems and manage critical sub-components such as transmission lines and substations, ensuring seamless interconnection to utility power grids. Your expertise will drive innovation, reliability, and compliance in the development of next-generation renewable energy infrastructure. What You’ll Do Lead design, construction, and commissioning of HV systems; support Generator Interconnection Agreements (GIAs) with utilities, ISOs, and RTOs. Review and optimize HV/MV substation, collection, transmission line, and equipment specifications (transformers, breakers, switchgear, BESS, etc.). Conduct/review power system studies (power flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination, grounding) ensuring compliance with codes and standards. Act as the technical interface between internal teams, EPC contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors. Support procurement by developing bid packages, reviewing vendor submittals, and optimizing equipment sourcing. Provide expert oversight during construction and commissioning, including acceptance testing and integration. Contribute to project reporting and achievement tracking, proactively identifying and resolving issues. Who You Are University degree in Engineering; P.Eng. (Canada) or PE (US) required, with preference for Electrical Engineering. 8+ years of progressive technical and leadership experience (10–15 years preferred). Direct experience in utility-scale power systems design, integration, and interconnection across North American ISOs. Strong mix of field and office experience. Collaborative, value-driven mindset balancing technical rigor with cost, schedule, and lifecycle considerations. Excellent communication skills to lead cross-functional and external partner meetings. Valid driver’s license (motor vehicle check required). Working Conditions Office-based with some field work. Travel: ~10% (up to 25% during peak project phases). #J-18808-Ljbffr
