Fort McMurray, Canada Thompson Bros. (Constr.) LP. Full time

Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Construction Surveyor in their Fort McMurray operations area.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct day-to-day staking in accordance with project design
  • Conduct field topographic survey pickups
  • Troubleshoot survey layout and machine control on site (TOPCON and Trimble)
  • Report to project management and field Superintendents
  • Record field data according to job specifications

Qualifications:

  • Extensive GPS Construction layout using Trimble or TOPCON GPS with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Knowledge of DTM surfaces and the ability to layout and pick lines using DXF files in the data collectors
  • Good understanding and knowledge of proper construction staking of roads, pads, and ponds
  • Working experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Centre or Terramodel is required
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Geomatic Engineering Diploma or Civil Engineering Tech Diploma would be considered an asset
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and live in remote camps, working a rotational schedule
  • Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Regional Orientation / OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO) or Energy Safety Canada Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive and First Aid is considered an asset
  • Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned
  • Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
