Job Summary The Manufacturing Electrical Engineer - MES & Controls Systems is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and sustaining advanced electrical, automation, and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role bridges shop-floor control systems and enterprise data platforms, enabling real‑time monitoring, control, traceability, and optimization of manufacturing processes. The individual will lead and support the integration of PLC‑based control systems, MES platforms, industrial databases, and AI‑enabled vision systems to improve safety, quality, productivity, and data‑driven decision making. Key Responsibilities Automation & Control Systems Design, develop, and maintain PLC‑based control systems for manufacturing equipment and processes.Develop and modify control logic, HMI screens, and system architectures using Rockwell Automation platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, FactoryTalk).Support machine commissioning, debug electrical and controls issues, and provide ongoing production support.Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and internal engineering guidelines. MES & HMI Development Design, configure, and maintain MES applications supporting production tracking, quality, traceability, downtime, and performance analytics.Develop and maintain Ignition by Inductive Automation solutions, including:Ignition Perspective and Vision clientsTag structures, alarms, scripting, and reportingIntegrate MES systems with PLCs, vision systems, databases, and enterprise applications (ERP, QMS). Software & Data Systems Develop and maintain software solutions using Python and C++ for data processing, system integration, and automation support tools.Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases to support MES data, production records, quality metrics, and historical analysis.Implement robust data models, queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization strategies. AI Vision & Smart Manufacturing Design, develop, and deploy AI‑based machine vision systems for inspection, verification, identification, and defect detection.Integrate vision systems with PLCs and MES platforms for closed‑loop quality control and automated decision making.Support model training, validation, deployment, and ongoing performance monitoring of vision algorithms. Continuous Improvement & Support Analyze manufacturing data to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and digitalization.Lead or support capital projects involving new equipment, controls upgrades, and MES expansions.Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, IT, and maintenance teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.Provide documentation, training, and technical support for deployed systems. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.Minimum 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment.Strong hands‑on experience with PLC programming and industrial controls.Proven experience developing MES or HMI systems, preferably using Ignition (Perspective and/or Vision).Proficiency in Python and C++ for industrial or manufacturing applications.Strong experience with SQL database development, including schema design and query optimization.Experience with AI or advanced machine vision systems (e.g., deep learning‑based inspection).Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in automotive, high‑volume, or regulated manufacturing environments.Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts, IIoT, OPC UA, and edge computing.Experience integrating MES with ERP systems (e.g., SAP).Knowledge of electrical design tools, network architecture, and industrial cybersecurity.Project management or capital equipment implementation experience.
