The Specialist assists the Supervisor/Director in providing leadership to the department volunteers and coaching department staff team during duty period, ultimately ensuring the direct delivery of quality service to all members of the YMCA Centre through leadership and effective management of the staff and operations of the Sales Desk.In this role, you will:Maintain YMCA standards and be a positive role model for our Mission, Vision and Commitment to Service. Adhere to Priority S.A.M. standards and EYE.Make decisions and solve problems regarding membership sales functions, membership accounts, members’ concerns, and members’ behaviour.Coordinate and monitor sales and renewals, including follow up on promotions and organizing data, to ensure sales and renewal targets are met or exceeded.Provide direct delivery at the Sales desk, modeling excellence in sales and service; utilize EYE Role Model, 7 Steps of Selling Behaviour Grids and Coaching Techniques.Assist the Sales Supervisor with the development of the Sales supplies budget, monitor, and maintain an adequate supply of all required printed materials and office supplies.Assist Supervisor in recruiting and developing effective volunteer teams within the department.Organize and perform the Membership Assistance Program Interviews and Reassessments.Perform daily banking responsibilities such as cash outs, ensuring targets are met and/or exceeded. Provide administrative support to department and centre as required.Monitor Accounts Receivable, ensure follow-up on overdue accounts/members, ensure the completion of the weekly Centre Accounts Receivable reports, cancel overdue accounts with 2 or more rejected payments and recommend to finance which accounts need to be written off.Provide leadership and support as a member of the Centre’s senior staff team. Act as an effective Service Leader as required.Participate in task groups, special assignments and opportunities that further the Association mission, vision and strategic initiatives including the Core Service Functional Group.Demonstrate appropriate behaviors in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; take a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association.Understand the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.Understand the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrate the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.Other duties as assigned.You bring:Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing or related area and/or related experienceMinimum 2 years sales and customer service experienceLeadership experience an assetCurrent CPR, First Aid and Healthy Child Development training an assetPrevious philanthropy involvement; planning, storytelling, volunteerism an assetExperience with CLASS and Raiser’s Edge an assetWell-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteersCommitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of membersFlexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings and weekendsFocus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programsYMCA Competencies: Accountable, Relationship-Builder, Improvement-Orientated, Team Player & Leader, Equity and Wellbeing PromoterWhy work for the YMCA?The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity that ignites the potential in people, helping them grow, lead, and give back to their communities.
