If you take pride in being compassionate, honest, professional, and safe, consider an exciting and rewarding career at Shannex.BenefitsApproximate hourly wage: $21.69 – $23.31Comprehensive health, vision, and dental benefits plan, including an Employee and Family Assistance Program (eligible immediately upon hire)Life, travel, and other insurancesAccess to virtual healthcare 24/7 for free through the group health benefit planRRSP program (5% employer matching)Vacation accrual (begins immediately) and travel insuranceFree onsite parkingAccess to thousands of perks vendors and discounts through WorkPerks programAccess to continuing education and training through Shannex’s Centre of ExcellenceRecognition and rewards for service excellence and safetyAbout the OpportunityCollaborates with each resident and/or family to assess engagement of meaningful activities in the six dimensions of wellness—Physical, Social, Intellectual, Vocational, Emotional, and Spiritual.Assists each resident in achieving goals to enhance overall wellness and defines strategies for goal attainment.Ensures that the Harmony Program provides opportunities for residents in all Lifestyle Options.Participates in the Resident Orientation program.Develops, analyzes, and reviews resident‑directed individualized and community‑wide programs.Fosters partnerships with local businesses and community groups to facilitate program development.Evaluates programming to ensure that the programs meet residents’ needs and expectations, upholding established expectations.Collaborates with the Recreation team to develop a plan for full‑scope wellness programming for all service lines.Oversees orientation for each new resident to the recreation department, services offered, and activities/amenities available to them.Oversees Recreation services for special functions ensuring organization, cost efficiency & appropriate staffing.About YouA diploma or degree in recreation or a related discipline.A passion for creative arts such as music therapy, art therapy, or artistic expression.Minimum two (2) years’ experience in recreation programming and planning for seniors in a health‑care setting or senior’s living environment.Demonstrates strong knowledge of the six dimensions of wellness.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong computer skills.Proof of current, valid CPR and First Aid Certification is required.Current certification from an applicable Food Safety program is required.Ability to work flexible hours and shifts (including some weekends and evenings).Previous experience working in retirement living or with seniors is considered an asset.A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care.About UsShannex is a family‑owned organization with a vision of Better Living for every stage of life.
