Job Details Job Title: GIS Student - Information Systems & Technology (Summer Student 2026) Job Number: J0126-0220 Job Code: NOGIS Job Category: SUMMER STUDENT Location: BRITWHIGF3 Bargaining Unit: Student Job Type: Summer Student Employment Type: Replacement Number of Positions: 1 Hours of Work: 35 hrs/wk Salary: $20.00/Hour Date Posted: January 26, 2026 Closing Date: February 27, 2026 Position Summary Assist the department with the development, collection, and maintenance of enterprise geospatial data Analyze spatial information, review databases, generate data queries, and summarize statistics Import and export data in a variety of formats (gdb, shp, zlas, slpk, i3s, dwg, rvz, csv, etc.) Verification and collection of data through field visits using differential GPS and mobile apps Provide ongoing support to the GIS Manager and GIS Teams Apply cartographic principles in the creation of web mapping products and applications Responsible for the maintenance and production of maps using ESRI software and ArcGIS online Other duties as assigned Hours of operation are 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday Qualifications, Competencies Must be enrolled in and returning to full-time post-secondary studies in Fall of 2026 – verification will be required Experience and knowledge of geographic information systems, GIS databases and ESRI ArcGIS suite including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS online, ArcGIS Enterprise Experience and knowledge of remote sensing image analysis systems Experience and knowledge of working with survey grade differential GPS equipment (asset) Knowledge of federal, provincial geospatial infrastructures (asset) Knowledge of geospatial web services (asset) Knowledge of FME and Python (asset) Must demonstrate corporate values of Belonging, Collaboration, Accountability, and Innovation Skills, Abilities, Work Demands Attention to detail and accuracy with good data management and organizational skills Strong customer service skills Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Excellent verbal and written communication skills Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel Ability to organize and prioritize tasks Judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential information Ability to follow instructions and perform assigned duties with limited direct supervision Excellent interpersonal skills Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check at candidates own expense Closing Statement Please inform us of any accommodations we need to make to ensure a barrier-free recruitment experience.
