Freelance Interpreter (English/Nyanja) Position with MCIS Language Solutions. Provide spoken interpretation services between English and Nyanja in community settings including hospitals, police stations, tribunal hearings, schools, and more. Pay Range Base pay: CA$20.00/hr – CA$25.00/hr. Actual pay may vary based on skills and experience. Key Responsibilities Interpret language between English and Nyanja in high‑pressure community settings such as healthcare and legal environments. Show cultural sensitivity and ensure accurate conveyance of meaning and tone. Read and orally translate written materials, such as application forms, medical records, and legal documents. Facilitate access to services for vulnerable populations. Travel to assignment locations as required and be accessible by car, public transport, or other means. Perform remote assignments via phone or video when applicable. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Requirements Fluency in English and Nyanja (written and spoken). Strong reading proficiency for converting documents into oral translations. Excellent interpersonal skills – empathy, patience, commitment to service. Reliable transportation to reach assignments. Legal eligibility to work in Canada. Training and Support Complete a free online training module before beginning work.
