Overview The Occupational Therapist (OT) plays a crucial role as part of the interprofessional healthcare team. Using an acute rehabilitation framework, the OT provides occupational consultation, assessment and intervention to promote and facilitate the development of skills essential to daily living and to minimize the impact of disability on functional independence. The OT will support the Plastic Surgery Outpatient Clinic and the Orthopedic Outpatient Clinic. Key Responsibilities Provide expert occupational therapy assessment and develop and implement a plan of intervention for children and families in collaboration with the interprofessional healthcare team; core clinical skills required include upper‑extremity assessment and splinting. Support the academic health sciences centre by providing/sharing knowledge with families, the public and other professionals internal and external to the Hospital. Provide evidence‑based care by integrating research with practice. Maintain a commitment to lifelong learning and create, utilize and/or disseminate new knowledge to others. Participate in weekend Occupational Therapy coverage. Requirements Master of Science in Occupational Therapy or Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. Clinical experience in splinting and upper‑extremity assessment required. Paediatric experience is preferred. Acute hospital experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting is preferred. Demonstrated interest in burn therapy. Ability to promote and provide ethnically and culturally sensitive and inclusive care to a diverse population of patients and families. Collaboration skills with the University as a subject‑matter expert in pediatric Occupational Therapy practice, and ability to provide student supervision. Initiative and leadership when appropriate. Outstanding interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Strong written communication for clinical documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory policy. Critical thinking, analytical and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced environment. Attention to detail and efficient time management.
