Job Summary: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the daily activities of the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all plant equipment in a chemical manufacturing environment. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance programs, supports plant production goals, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance technicians, mechanics, and contractors to complete repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance tasks. Ensure all maintenance work is performed in compliance with company safety policies, chemical handling procedures, and regulatory standards (OSHA, WHMIS, etc.). Plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance activities to minimize production downtime. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, including pumps, valves, piping systems, compressors, electrical systems, and instrumentation. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate with purchasing to ensure critical components are available. Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency. Train and mentor maintenance staff on safe work practices, troubleshooting, and technical skills. Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and facility modifications as needed. Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to improve equipment performance and reliability. Perform periodic audits and inspections on a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis as directed by the site maintenance program and maintain records. All defects or repairs are clearly noted on forms. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Safe Practices including Hot Work, Lockout, and Confined Space. Must attend and participate in various training programs pertaining to maintenance. Provide good customer service and maintain a continuous improvement focus by working with stakeholders to resolve issues and recommend improvements to maintenance productivity and quality. Practice and actively promote company environmental, health, safety and operational policies and procedures. Develop and promote a positive employee relations environment within the department. Qualifications Minimum of a College Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field. 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience in maintenance. Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and instrumentation systems. Familiarity with chemical plant operations and process equipment. Knowledge of preventive maintenance best practices and CMMS software. Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities. Commitment to workplace safety and environmental compliance. Proven project management, prioritization skills, excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities. Thorough understanding of WHMIS regulations. Experience with Microsoft Office is required. Familiar with pumps, pipe fitting, welding. Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license. Working Conditions Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, noise, and moving equipment. May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, safety glasses, and gloves. Some overtime, weekend, and on‑call work may be required.
