The Web Team at GSMA is the cornerstone of our online presence and digital strategy. This dedicated group of professionals is tasked with creating, ongoing support, and meticulously managing a wide array of web-related ventures. Their expertise is not only showcased through the public interfaces of our high-traffic websites. Still, it is also integral to the success of several internal projects that foster our intra-organizational efficiencies.

About the Role

We seek a Web Developer to join our dynamic team at GSMA, where they will contribute to advancing our corporate and event-focused websites and applications. This individual will report directly to the Head of Digital Online and is expected to thrive in collaborative and autonomous working environments. A commitment to meeting stringent development timelines without compromising on quality or performance is vital.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in full-stack development and capable of crafting seamless front-end user experiences and robust back-end systems. The role may also present opportunities for international travel to participate in GSMA events or collaborate with global development teams.

Responsibilities include:

• Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of User Interface (UI) principles, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and adherence to web functions and standards.
• Maintaining robust communication with fellow Web Team members and broader GSMA staff, ensuring alignment and clarity of project objectives.
• Exhibit deep expertise and hands-on experience with Web Applications. Fluent in programming languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery. Understand API integration.
• Possessing in-depth functional knowledge and practical design experience with various Web Services, including RESTful and SOAP architectures.
• Showcasing a solid understanding and practical experience with WordPress CMS and its codex, driving content management efficiency and effectiveness.


About You

  • As a Web Developer within our ranks, you will be a seasoned full-stack maven, boasting a minimum of five years of rigorous experience in both back-end and front-end web development landscapes.

  • Your expertise will span a robust proficiency in crafting sophisticated applications using PHP and JavaScript. You will showcase an astute understanding of core programming constructs such as loops, arrays, and functions, as well as advanced object-oriented concepts, including types, classes, and inheritance.

  • Your proficiency with WordPress transcends mere familiarity; a profound grasp of the WordPress Codex is vital, allowing you to navigate and innovate with deft skill within this platform.

  • Moreover, your adeptness in JavaScript and PHP is expected to cover the complexities of classes and inheritance, among other intricate programming paradigms.

  • Git and GitHub are integral tools in your development arsenal. You are adept at executing a suite of Git commands—pull, push, fork, branch, commit, pull request, and revert—and can manoeuvre through them with finesse.

  • In addition, you will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of front-end technologies, being able to deftly manipulate HTML and CSS (including pre-processors like Sass) and orchestrate the interactions of the DOM with JavaScript to create seamless and dynamic user experiences.
