Our High-Level Division in Alberta is currently recruiting for a Chief Power Engineer.We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Power Engineer to lead the safe, and efficient operation of the mill’s energy systems, including boilers, turbines, and auxiliary equipment. The Chief Power Engineer will oversee a team of power engineers and maintenance staff, to ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain all steam and power generating equipment critical to mill operations.Why You’ll Love This RoleStay local: Monday to Friday, day shift—no fieldwork or long-haul travel required.Make an impact: Help maintain vital production equipment in a top-tier manufacturing operation.Join a respected team: Be part of a company that values craftsmanship, safety, and teamwork.Relocation support: We'll help you and your family settle comfortably into life in High Level.What We OfferRelocation assistance to help you and your family transition smoothly.Northern Retention Bonus to reward your commitment.Competitive wages + comprehensive benefits package: including medical, dental, and vision coverage, pension and saving plans, life, disability, and accident insurance, vacation time, paid holidays and additional benefits to support your well-being.A long-term, stable career with opportunities for growth and advancement.What You'll Be Doing:Lead and Supervise the Power Engineers and Control Room OperatorsReview daily logbooks, and complete morning crew talks with the energy crewManage the daily operations of the powerhouse and utilities systems, ensuring compliance with Alberta boiler and pressure vessel regulations laid out by ABSADevelop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), emergency response plans (ERPs), and preventative maintenance schedulesLead root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts for equipment failures or operational issuesMaintain all required documentation, including logbooks, reports, and regulatory submissionsEnsure compliance with all governmental regulations, environmental, health, and safety standardsCollaborate with other departments (production, maintenance, EHS) to optimize plan performance and energy efficiencyCoordinate bi-weekly and annual shutdowns, startups, and updates of power systemsParticipate in budget planning, and cost control related to the Energy areaAssist in sourcing and coordinating various outsourced contractorsCoordinate regular training and skill upgrading for energy crewsContinuously learn technical advances in the field, attend conferences and seminars, and contribute to training materials developmentYou Have:A 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing / industrial industryPersonal Commitment to safetyStrong planning and organizational skillsExcellent interpersonal and team building skillsStrong leadership and communication skills, to drive operational excellenceDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, and safety-focused environmentProficient with computer systems and reporting tools (ex: CMMS)Experience in the forestry or manufacturing industry is considered an assetDemonstration of our West Fraser values (including integrity, humility, teamwork, frugality, innovation, competitiveness, and respect)What We Offer:Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity.
