Job Title: Temporary Arena / Pool Operator (Part Time) Location: All Arenas (City of Burlington) Job Type: Part Time (Fixed Term / Seasonal) Closing Date: October 31, 2025 Union Representation: CUPE Local 44 Hours of Work: 0-27.5 hours per week Contract: September 6, 2025 – May 30, 2026 Position Overview: Reporting to a Supervisor, RCC Facility Operations and working out of one of the City’s arenas and/or pools, the Arena / Pool Operator’s primary function is to operate and maintain the City’s public arenas and pools. Responsibilities Prepare, maintain and remove ice surfaces as well as monitor and adjust the refrigeration equipment and keep appropriate records. Perform minor building renovations and set‑up / take down of rooms for scheduled rentals as well as provide janitorial services and maintain related inventory. Provide front line customer service and maintain building and patron safety. Provide training / task supervision to part‑time staff. Drive personal vehicle to different facilities every shift. Provide a clear criminal record check at own expense (Police Check Requirement). Qualifications & Requirements Experience using an ice resurfacer and edger, along with various power / hand tools. Comfortable troubleshooting issues with compressors, motors and pumps. Basic computer skills to operate e‑mail and Microsoft Office applications. Standard First Aid and CPR, C + AED (required). Certified Ice Technician (CIT) and/or accreditation with CPO / Class A Pools considered an asset. A Class B Refrigeration Certification and/or Stationery 4th Class Engineer considered an asset. Valid G Class driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire).
