Ensures the operations, processes and services are customer-centric and efficient. The units deliver community recreation programs through geographically aligned areas across the City, aquatic, sport and physical activity programming for all ages, as well as programming to address the needs of individuals with disabilities and population segments who may experience barriers to access recreation services.You are responsible for assisting with all functions relating to the delivery of the Program, a Therapeutic Recreation/Life Skills day program. This includes some aspects of Therapeutic Recreation Programming.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECompletion of 4 year Therapeutic Recreation degree or 3 year general degree with a Therapeutic Recreation DiplomaMinimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Therapeutic Recreation Adult Day Program/ABI /Special Needs/Rehab/Community/Inclusive RecreationCERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCESCurrent Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificatesCrisis Prevention/Intervention training certificateAODA Customer Service/IASR TrainingKNOWLEDGELegislation protecting rights of special needs client, populationsHealth and Safety legislation, policies and proceduresCity of Ottawa and Parks & Recreation Branch Policies and ProceduresProfessional standards of practice, legislative requirements and Policy/ProceduresCOMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to lead small groupsWell developed understanding of TR toolsAble to design rehab and adapted recreation programmingCreativeOutgoingReliableDependableFlexibleWHAT YOU NEED TO KNOWLanguage Requirement:Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies.
