Job Details Position Title: Simulation Operations Coordinator Status: Full‑time Support (Contract) Hours: 37.5 hours per week Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health & Life Sciences – Emergency & Specialized Care Campus/Location: North Campus Salary: Payband K Salary Range: $4 7 . 13 - $ 54.58 Starting Salary: $4 7.13 Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full‑Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband. The Faculty of Health & Life Sciences (FHLS) prepares graduates for careers across health, emergency, and life‑science disciplines. The Emergency & Specialized Care cluster includes paramedicine, fire services, emergency telecommunications, funeral services education, bioscience, and clinical simulation. Simulation is a core teaching and learning strategy across these programs, supporting immersive, trauma‑informed, and interprofessional education through high‑fidelity simulation, immersive environments, and emerging technologies. About The Simulation Operations Coordinator Role Reporting to the Associate Dean and working in close collaboration with Simulation Education leadership, faculty, and technical teams, the Simulation Operations Coordinator is responsible for the operational planning, coordination, and technical execution of simulation‑based learning activities across the Faculty. This role ensures that simulation spaces, equipment, and immersive technologies are operationally ready, safely deployed, and effectively supported to meet academic schedules and program needs. The incumbent provides day‑to‑day operational leadership for simulation delivery, oversees technology and infrastructure readiness, coordinates logistics across programs, and serves as a primary technical and operational resource within the simulation environment. This position is distinct from instructional or curriculum‑design roles, focusing on operations, systems, infrastructure, and workflow coordination to support high‑quality simulation delivery. Key Responsibilities Simulation Operations & Coordination Coordinate daily simulation operations, including room bookings, equipment scheduling, and multi‑program simulation activities. Implement and monitor standard operating procedures for simulation setup, teardown, cleaning, storage, and equipment readiness. Develop and maintain simulation logistics plans aligned with academic calendars and program schedules. Act as the primary operational liaison during simulation sessions, supporting setup, troubleshooting, and real‑time adjustments. Technology & Infrastructure Oversight Oversee inventory management, asset tracking, calibration, and maintenance of simulation equipment and immersive technologies. Support integration of new simulation technologies, including high‑fidelity manikins and VR/AR platforms. Coordinate installation, upgrades, and preventative maintenance with vendors, IT, AV, and facilities teams. Maintain operational documentation, maintenance logs, and technology workflows. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain operational documentation, checklists, and workflow guides for simulation delivery. Track simulation usage data and identify operational efficiencies or resource gaps. Participate in simulation planning and review meetings, contributing an operational and systems perspective. Support risk management, safety compliance, and readiness across simulation spaces. Expert Operational Resource Provide front‑line technical and operational support to faculty, technologists, and support staff using simulation resources. Guide and support simulation technologists, part‑time staff, and student assistants during complex or high‑volume activities. Support evening, weekend, or extended‑hour simulation activities as required by program delivery. Planning, Analysis & Projects Contribute to annual simulation operational planning, budgeting, and equipment forecasting. Prepare quotations, tenders, and operational analyses for equipment and infrastructure investments. Collaborate with leadership and operations teams on space utilization, capital planning, and future simulation needs. Education Three‑year diploma or degree in a healthcare, technology, or related field, with demonstrated experience in clinical simulation or advanced educational technologies. Additional training or certification in simulation operations, immersive technologies, or technical systems is an asset. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) designation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare is required. Experience Minimum five (5) years of experience in a healthcare education or post‑secondary education simulation environment, with demonstrated responsibility for technical operations, simulation systems, and resource coordination. Demonstrated experience supporting high‑fidelity simulation systems, audiovisual integration, and/or immersive technologies. Proven ability to coordinate complex logistics across multiple stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment. Experience working in trauma‑informed, interprofessional, or high‑reliability learning environments is an asset. Skills & Competencies Strong operational planning, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Technical aptitude with simulation equipment, AV systems, and digital platforms. Ability to work independently while collaborating across academic, technical, and operational teams. Clear communication skills and a service‑oriented approach to supporting faculty and learners.
