ARC Manager ARC is seeking an enthusiastic manager to join our team. This position involves a wide variety of duties and responsibilities that aim to support and ensure the wellbeing of our members, staff, and the overall success of the facility. Customer service – communication with members, guests and community. Scheduling. Staff relations – hiring, communication and training (front desk, belayers, instructors). Safety – weekly and monthly safety inspections of the facility. Inventory – weekly and monthly tracking and ordering of retail and rental stock. Special events – scheduling and organising (and delegating). Qualifications and Experience Post‑secondary education an asset (but not required). 2‑5 years of management or leadership experience. Background in business, marketing or project management. Experience with managing and delegating complex and multiple tasks. Proficient in speaking, writing and reading English. French an asset. Comfortable with computers (Word and Excel). Experience with Rock Gym Pro an asset. Website and social media management also an asset. First Aid: Basic required, advanced an asset. Handy work capabilities an asset. Comfortable on ladders and working at height. Passion for climbing and other forms of fitness and well‑being. Other Skills and Qualities Strong interpersonal skills. Responsible, accountable, reliable, punctual. Honest, friendly and approachable. Able to provide and receive constructive feedback. Strong work ethic. Team player and leader. Manager, Campus Recreation and Facility Development – University of Ottawa Provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of campus recreation programs, facilities and staff. Ensures the delivery of inclusive, innovative and sustainable recreational experiences that support student well‑being, foster community engagement and align with the University of Ottawa’s mission. This includes all uOttawa fitness and instructional programmes, aquatic programming, intramurals and camps. Responsibilities Provide strategic representation for campus recreation within the senior leadership team, ensuring optimal resource utilisation and contributing to department‑wide decisions that shape the strategic direction, mission and objectives of Recreation and Varsity Sports. Lead the development, execution and evaluation of campus recreation programmes for students, staff and the external community, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, budgetary targets and performance metrics. Drive the strategic planning and development of sport and recreation infrastructure in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring facilities meet current and future demands of the university and its partners. Perform high‑level analysis of programme and facility needs, benchmarking against industry standards and trends to inform strategic decisions that address the unique needs of the University of Ottawa population. Oversee the strategic allocation of facility resources for all RVS programmes, ensuring equitable access and alignment with organisational priorities. Foster cross‑functional collaboration with senior management across RVS sectors to optimise shared resources and achieve integrated departmental objectives in areas such as marketing, promotion, communication, high‑performance IT, operations, finance and human resources. Develop and manage the budget and resources allocated in alignment with RVS annual strategic plan, ensuring financial sustainability and effective use of allocated funds. Provide strategic leadership in revenue generation through campus recreation programming, setting short and long‑term goals to enhance internal and external funding streams. Lead the recruitment, development and performance management of recreation staff, fostering a high‑performing team culture aligned with departmental values and objectives. Qualifications University degree in sport management, business administration, recreation or equivalent education and relevant work experience. Five years experience working in a recreational sports, fitness or athletics environment in a supervisory capacity. Five years experience in human resource and financial management. Bilingualism: French and English (spoken and written). Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating strategies. Extensive experience in leading and executing several projects simultaneously and prioritising tasks under tight deadlines. Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy and tact, excellent negotiating, conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills.
