SRE accomplishes this through defining frameworks and best practices for operating applications, building tooling, and providing training and consulting.Providing data and visibility to teams and leadership on application performanceGuiding the development of SLOsDriving the Incident Management and Analysis processSteering the implementation of Change Management and Deployment practicesEngaging in service and architectural conversationsRecommending observability and alerting configurationsTeam and CapabilitiesExperience across infrastructure, platform, and distributed systemsCapacity management, load and chaos testingAutomation, observability, and configuration managementDevelopment and product experienceWhat You’ll DoOwn and deliver quarterly goals for your team, lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and support deliveryCollaborate with product management, design & analytics during ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on risk-aware decisionsProactively identify and lead the resolution of project, process, technology, or business issuesSupport operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on-call dutiesFoster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards and advocating for them beyond your teamDevelop talent by providing feedback and guidance and leading by exampleWhat We Look For / Qualifications4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or KotlinTrack record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes4+ years working in a Site Reliability or Production Engineering teamCuriosity with empathy and strong opinions loosely heldExperience defining a technical plan for delivering significant features or components with elegant, simple, and extensible design; high-quality codeAbility to make significant changes in a large code base and develop tools/practices to do so safelyOwnership mindset, seeking feedback proactivelyStrong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering teamBase Pay Grade - NEquity Grade - 6Base pay is part of a total compensation package including equity rewards, stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents).CAN base pay range per year: $150,000 - $200,000Affirm is remote-first; most roles are remote within the country of employment.
