You bring foundational knowledge in planning and a collaborative mindset to support a range of planning assignments. Under the close supervision of senior staff, you assist with research, analysis, and preparation of planning deliverables. This role is an opportunity to build your expertise and contribute to project teams within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.Responsibilities include:Project DeliveryAssist in the preparation and review of development applications, including Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments, Site Plan Control, Minor Variance and Consent applications, and Plans of SubdivisionAssist in the preparation of policy documents including new Official Plans, Master Plans, Community Design Plans, etc.Review development proposals and site plans for conformity to planning policies and regulationsPrepare Planning Justification Reports in support of development applicationsUndertake background review, site research and development potential analysisPrepare and present development proposals to municipal approval authoritiesAct as liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers and elected officialsConduct site visits and existing condition assessmentsAssist in resolving technical and public comments and/or concernsAttend and present at Committee of Adjustment hearingsPrepare for and attend project and client meetingsPrepare for and attend occasional public meetings, including evening and weekend meetings (as needed)And any other duties as assignedBusiness DevelopmentAssist in business development, including preparing proposal letters and assisting with request for proposal submissions (RFPs)Requirements include:Undergraduate and/or Master’s level university degree in planningPractical understanding of municipal land use planning systems and policiesDemonstrated ability to balance several projects simultaneouslyStrong oral communication skills including presenting to, and liaising with, clients, municipal departments, review agencies, and the publicStrong technical writing experienceAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft OfficeAbility to show initiative, critical thinking and work independentlyAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environmentAssets include:Prior related work experienceFrench written and oral communication skillsMembership in, or on the path to obtain, certification with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI)Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, GIS and/or AutoCADPossession of a valid driver’s licenseIn addition to a competitive salary and bonus structure, we offer a generous paid time-off package including vacation days, personal days, volunteer days, and paid company-wide closure between December 25 and January 1.
