Clinical Trials Research Assistant Position available at the University of British Columbia, Chan Laboratory, Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine. Compensation $26.67 – $31.73 CAD hourly Posting Dates Posting End Date: January 13, 2026 Job End Date: January 11, 2027 Job Summary Food allergy research at BC Children’s Hospital involves sponsor‑initiated clinical trials and related studies. The Research Assistant will support the DINOSAUR, RPT904‑01, and GHL‑102 studies, performing tasks such as participant recruitment, visit scheduling, sample collection, data entry, and ethics submissions. The role combines office work on the BC Children’s Hospital campus with remote work from home. Reporting and Supervision This position reports directly to Dr. Lianne Soller, Allergy Research Manager. The Research Assistant will work closely with clinical trials research nurses and will receive supervision from Dr. Soller. No supervisory responsibilities are assigned. Work Performed Draft new ethics submissions and amendments. Respond to sponsor queries regarding recruitment targets and current study status. Schedule patient visits and coordinate with study team and clinical team (pharmacy, lab, nursing, technologist, allergist, clerical) to ensure aligned timelines. Print blood test results and obtain investigator signatures. Review eligibility criteria, ensure inclusion criteria are met, and print medical histories. Approach participants, obtain informed consent, and enroll them in the study. Collect saliva, nasal swab, urine, and stool samples from participants. Gather allergy and atopic history from parents and children. Enter participant data into the online database and address sponsor queries. Assist the research coordinator with tasks such as maintaining the electronic site file and source documents, scheduling onsite monitoring visits, and convening study team meetings. Consequences of Error/Judgement All activities must be conducted ethically and under supervision of Dr. Soller. Data must be recorded accurately and confidentially; all patient‑related tasks are accountable to Dr. Soller. Minimum Qualifications High school graduation with additional training in a related field and at least two years of related experience (or equivalent education and experience). Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including those in conflict with your own. Demonstrated commitment to enhancing equity, diversity, and inclusion awareness, knowledge, and skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with chart review and interpretation of medical charts. Experience with clinical trials. High proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and Internet resource use. Knowledge of Cerner/PowerChart and RealTime CTMS. Strong attention to accuracy and detail. Good organizational skills. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Attentive to detail with ability to work quickly and accurately. Skill in exercising tact and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential matters. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
