Role Summary The Internet of Things (IoT) and Streaming Team seeks a passionate Senior Software Engineer. You will design, develop, and maintain high‑performance, low‑latency, robust, scalable, and reliable distributed systems that form the backbone of R | V Tech’s technology infrastructure. The role involves a rotating on‑call schedule, including occasional weekends, late nights, and holidays to resolve critical production issues. Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy distributed systems and applications focused on scalability, reliability, and performance. Build event‑driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka and Redis for fault‑tolerance. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. Write high‑quality, maintainable Go code with robust test coverage. Implement, monitor, debug applications to ensure high availability and low latency. Deploy and maintain solutions on AWS cloud platforms. Manage message brokers and implement streaming and queuing solutions. Identify and address performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and production issues. Participate in on‑call rotation during off‑hours, weekends, and holidays. Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and tools. Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting systems. Qualifications – Required Work from R | V Tech’s Yaletown office at least 3 days per week. Work from home up to 2 days per week supported. On‑call rotation (including weekends, late nights, holidays). Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent). At least 3 years of relevant experience. Strong foundation in software engineering principles and distributed systems design. Proficiency in Go with production‑grade experience. Experience with cloud platforms and cloud‑native patterns. Expertise in event‑driven architecture and message brokers such as Kafka. Proficiency with Redis for caching or distributed structures. Solid understanding of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana Labs, Amazon CloudWatch) and production debugging. Experience with unit, integration, and performance testing. Strong knowledge of Git. Qualifications – Preferred Master’s or PhD preferred. AWS cloud platform experience. Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD). Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience building high‑performance, low‑latency systems at scale. Pay Disclosure Salary Range for Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada based applicants: $96,800 – $121,000 (actual compensation determined by experience, location, and factors permitted by law).
