Remuneration SCHCADS level 5 dependent on qualifications and experience + superannuation5 Weeks Annual LeaveUp to $15,900 for living expenses + up to $2,600 towards meals and entertainment can be tax-free through NFP Salary Packaging About the Position The role of the Youth Worker, is to provide evidence-informed AOD treatment and collaborative care to young people, using brief interventions, care planning, AOD counselling, harm reduction and trauma informed frameworks. The Youth Worker will provide treatment and collaborative care that is both safe and effective for young people and families with intersectional needs. The Youth Worker will, drawing on their lived or living experience, provide resilience based AOD case management as well as plan and facilitate intensive and structured non-residential AOD rehabilitation programming (both individual and group). The Youth Worker will collaborate and integrate treatment with co-located and out‑posted services at The Zone. Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience working with young people and their families in areas such as alcohol and other drug, mental health and homelessness.Lived experience of different intersectional dimensions is preferredDemonstrated experience in listening to the voices of people of diverse backgrounds and identities and a capacity to understand and appreciate their lived experienceExperience in establishing and cultivating intra and inter‑organisational relationships with people and organisations of influenceExperience as an ally with people of diverse backgrounds and identitiesKnowledge and understanding of the key issues facing young people What our young people request from our workers: A good worker takes the time to understand your interests and doesn’t treat everyone the same. Young people believe that a good YSAS worker is empathetic and good at actively listening in a non‑judgmental way, is relatable, down‑to‑earth and able to build trust and rapport in a consistent manner. Young people have also raised that genuine human connection is an important quality, being authentically human, while having a holistic, flexible, and adaptable approach that considers the entire context of a young person’s life and their intersectionalities. It’s about making sure workers don’t just tick boxes but genuinely want to see us thrive.
