309A Electrical Apprentice Merit for Jobs in partnership with Merit OpenShop Contractors Association of Ontario is hiring apprentices in the Electrician‑Construction and Maintenance (309A) trade for their team in Waterloo, ON. Applicants should be driven, focused, and prepared to follow instructions given by their assigned Journeyperson. Willingness to relocate is an asset. Successful candidates will demonstrate good time management, customer service, analytical and observant skills, and sound knowledge of safety protocols. Job Details Job Type: Full-time Apprenticeship Salary: $20.86 per hour Benefits: To be determined by the employer Education Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent College Diploma (not required, but an asset) Completion of a pre‑apprenticeship program (not required but an asset) Required Certification/License WHMIS Working at Heights Workers Health & Safety Valid G class driver's license with a clean record Responsibilities Learning from a licensed electrician and completing all assigned duties. Identifying, analyzing, troubleshooting, and assisting with repairs of equipment and electrical faults. Lay out, assemble, install, repair, maintain, connect, and/or test electrical systems. Plan installations from blueprints, sketches, and specifications, and install all electrical and electronic devices. Systematically diagnose faults in electrical and electronic components, as required. Measure, cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install conduits and other electrical conductor raceways. Splice and terminate electrical conductors. Test electrical and electronic equipment to ensure proper functioning. Travel to various public and private spaces to assist the master electrician. Interpret blueprints and schematics. Update work logs, client accounts, and handle other administrative duties. Order replacement parts and equipment as needed. Work irregular hours and overtime when required. Communicate with clients in a professional, courteous manner at all times. Collaborate with construction workers, plumbers, and other crew members.
