Looking for a new opportunity?

We are currently looking for a committed and experienced Director of Finance to be based in our Toronto office. Reporting into the President, this role will provide oversight and leadership to the performance of our accounting teams across all company branches.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for all accounting-related aspects of the business
  • Hire, train and manage the Project Accountants in each of our branches
  • Hire, train and manage the Credit & Collections Manager for the business
  • Support all branches as it relates to day-to-day accounting issues, monthly financial statements and bank reconciliations, and year-end reporting
  • Monthly reporting into the C.F.O. of our publicly-traded parent company
  • Control cash flow and collections
  • Monitor monthly inventory counts by Project Managers
  • Review and approve staff expense reports on a monthly basis
  • Facilitate a weekly accounting meeting with Project Accountants
  • Ensure all accounting processes and controls are developed, communicated and followed
  • Overnight travel to all offices in both Canada and the U.S (estimated 2 – 3 nights/month)

What You’ll Bring:

  • CPA Accounting designation
  • Post-secondary education from a reputable university
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in an accounting managerial role
  • Experience in the construction industry would be considered an asset
  • Leadership & ability to motivate staff in remote offices
  • Experience in job costing/budgeting
  • Ability to delegate work to Project Accountants while still ensuring high-quality work product
  • Solid work ethic and long-term commitment to our company
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving capabilities
  • Highly organized
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
