General Duty MRI Technologist

Shared Health – Thompson General Hospital is seeking a General Duty MRI Technologist to provide diagnostic MRI services in the Thompson Hospital Diagnostic Imaging unit. Position Overview Under the general supervision of the Charge Medical Technologist or designate, the General Duty MRI Technologist performs diagnostic MRI scans in accordance with procedures established within the MRI Department. The incumbent will maintain a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and maintain standards put forth by Accreditation. Functions are conducted in accordance with the Mission and Values of Shared Health, current policies, procedures and applicable legislation. Responsibilities Perform diagnostic MRI scans and manage all diagnostic instrumentation according to approved scopes of practice. Maintain a safe environment and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and professional guidelines. Follow oral and written instructions precisely, with attention to detail, and demonstrate effective communication in English. Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, establishing positive working relationships internally and externally. Work under pressure, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to all regulations including Criminal Records and Abuse Registry checks. Requirements Education: Graduate of an approved MRI training program with successful completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technology registration examinations (CAMRT). Certification: Eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) and registration within three months of hire. Experience: Previous related experience in MRI preferred; experience with Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). License: Valid Manitoba driver license preferred; current driver's abstract to be provided upon hire. Current BCLS within the past 12 months or BCLS Instructor Certificate. Skills & Competencies Windows computer environment required; Microsoft Office programs preferred. Demonstrated competency in manipulation and selection of MR images. Excellent dexterity to operate diagnostic instrumentation. Fluent in both French and English may be required. Proficient analytical skills and ability to work under pressure. Organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with internal and external agencies. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information entrusted to the position. Schedule & Work Arrangement The position may involve work on the mobile unit or at the base site. Employees are expected to work flexible schedules including weekends and evenings, and may be required to travel (drive and fly) to communities across Manitoba, including Northern and remote communities. Additional Information Applicants must provide a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
