Join to apply for the Superintendent, Roads role at Dawson GroupDawson Road Maintenance is looking for a Superintendent of Roads who demonstrates exceptional leadership skills, meticulous planning, and practical hands‑on experience to consistently achieve company objectives. In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a permanent, full‑time position of Superintendent of Roads, reporting to the Manager of Operations. As the Superintendent, you will supervise the activities of maintenance crews, sub‑contractors and hired equipment. Your base location will be Fort St. John, BC and will require some travel throughout our great province.What Success Looks LikeIdentify work, prioritize, and plan to ensure efficient and effective servicesConduct highway patrols and inspections in accordance with work proceduresPerform quality control inspections of identified routine work and approve quantified workAssign work to road crews and Road Foremen to achieve quality work accomplished in a safe, productive, and environmentally responsible mannerOversee and manage the fleet of road maintenance equipment to ensure it is well‑maintained, safe to operate, and used efficiently on all job sitesProvide full project management for road maintenance operations, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring timely, high‑quality, and safe project deliveryAssist the Operations Manager, Project Manager and Quality Manager with all issues relating to the delivery of quality servicesWork closely with the Safety Manager to ensure all workspaces and personal operate in accordance with policy and legislative requirementsComplete and maintain records related to work identification, materials, and road inspectionsControl and monitor operations to ensure they meet the requirements of the environmental responsibilityPlan and prioritize activities, monitor subcontractors, report accomplishments, and ensure work is within budget parametersWhat You BringMinimum three (3) years of experience in management level roles requiredMinimum five (5) years of knowledge and experience in the road maintenance industry requiredValid Class 3 Driver’s License with an Air Brake Endorsement is an assetValid Class 1 Driver’s License preferredMust maintain driver’s abstract with less than 10 demerit pointsCapability to operate equipment subject to qualificationsProficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, specifically in relation to budgetingAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to complete shift work as requiredBenefitsLooking to be a key member of a well‑established family‑owned company?
