JOB SUMMARYThe Grid Modernization Engineer plays a key role in offering both strategic and tactical guidance regarding data requirements, modeling, monitoring, control, and communication within the distribution system. The Grid Modernization Engineer takes the lead in supporting the operational facets of Grid Modernization and is responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing new technologies, as well as enhancing existing processes and equipment. These initiatives aim to facilitate the efficient operation of Hydro Ottawa's distribution grid and contribute to the strategic adoption of Grid Modernization solutions.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESContribute to the development and execution of Hydro Ottawa’s Grid Modernization RoadmapEvaluate, implement and manage new Grid Modernization initiatives including technology, software, solutions and equipmentDevelop and support the utilization of data analytics to enhance grid efficiency and optimize the life of distribution assetsProvide thought leadership on solutions that amplify the effectiveness of Grid Modernization systems and applicationsOversee end-to-end process management and conduct change impact analysisDevelop and implement system and data configuration requirements, as well as use casesProvide real-time troubleshooting and issue resolution for system users, offering technical support to other business unitsDeliver presentations to decision-makers and stakeholdersAssist with managing and coordinating the successful completion of special projects as requiredEvaluate project and program options and alternativesPrepare business cases and financial analysis for projects and programs contributing to overall budget and business planning processesMay be required to participate in industry committees, panels and conferences as a representative of Hydro OttawaParticipate in Business Continuity Plan and On Call programs, as requiredPerform other duties as requiredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEProfessional Engineer, licensed or eligible to be licensed in the province of OntarioUndergraduate degree in EngineeringExperience in Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement frameworks considered an assetKnowledge of Ontario’s energy sector and regulatory framework considered an assetKnowledge of advanced distribution management systems considered an assetStrong computer skills; proficient in the use of office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably G SuiteEnglish essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (French/English) or other languages considered an assetThis is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.Hydro Ottawa offers a Hybrid Work Model.
