WHO WE ARE One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. POSITION SUMMARY The Occupational Therapist provides assessment, treatment, transition and discharge support to assist children and youth to achieve their optimum rehabilitation potential in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. Note that clinical supervision of therapy assistants, as well as family and community partner education will be important components of all positions. JOB DUTIES Provides quality family-centered care through assessment and treatment programs to assist children/youth in achieving their maximal functional ability in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. Utilizes therapeutic techniques / modalities as necessary in the provision of therapy. Documents client-related activities and workload practices according to Children’s Treatment Centre and College standards. Maintains client confidentiality and privacy. Communicates effectively and ensures continuity of care by making treatment decisions in close collaboration with the child/youth/family, other rehabilitation staff, and other community service providers as part of an inter-disciplinary team. Works with the child/youth, family and/or other caregivers to identify specific treatment/intervention and design appropriate daily activities and programs. The focus may be prevention, maintenance and/or development of new skills for the child/youth and family. Provides clinical supervision within the discipline’s scope of practice to designated support personnel and/or placement students. Provides equipment recommendations / prescriptions and/or refers children/youth to appropriate services, both internally within the CTC and externally to community partners. Acts as a resource/educator for the children/youth, families, and community partners through the development and implementation of education programs. Pursues on-going professional development and growth. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario 2 years related work experience within a pediatric/health care setting with children and youth with special needs preferred Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the Districts of Nipissing, Muskoka, and Parry Sound Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Valid Ontario driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable vehicle Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation, programming and communication. SOMMAIRE DU POSTE L’ergothérapeute assure l’évaluation, le traitement, l’accompagnement à la transition et le soutien à la sortie afin d’aider les enfants et les jeunes à atteindre leur plein potentiel de réadaptation en matière d’autonomie, de productivité et de loisirs. Il est à noter que la supervision clinique des assistants en ergothérapie, ainsi que la formation des familles et des partenaires communautaires, constituent des composantes importantes de tous les postes. FONCTIONS DU POSTE Offre des soins de qualité axés sur la famille, grâce à des programmes d'évaluation et de traitement, afin d'aider les enfants et les jeunes à optimiser leur fonctionnement en matière d'autonomie, de productivité et de loisirs. Utilise les techniques et modalités thérapeutiques nécessaires à la prestation des services. Consigne les activités et la charge de travail liées aux clients conformément aux normes du Centre de traitement pour enfants et du Collège. Garantit la confidentialité et le respect de la vie privée des clients. Communique efficacement et assure la continuité des soins en prenant des décisions thérapeutiques en étroite collaboration avec l'enfant, le jeune et sa famille, les autres membres du personnel de réadaptation et les autres fournisseurs de services communautaires, au sein d'une équipe interdisciplinaire. Collabore avec l’enfant/le jeune, sa famille et/ou les autres personnes qui en prennent soin afin d’identifier un traitement/une intervention spécifique et de concevoir des activités et des programmes quotidiens adaptés. L’accent peut être mis sur la prévention, le maintien et/ou le développement de nouvelles compétences pour l’enfant/le jeune et sa famille. Recommande ou prescrit du matériel et/ou oriente les enfants/les jeunes vers les services appropriés, tant au sein du CTC qu’à l’extérieur, auprès des partenaires communautaires. Assure la supervision clinique, dans le cadre de sa pratique professionnelle, du personnel de soutien désigné et/ou des stagiaires. Sert de personne-ressource et d'éducateur auprès des enfants, des jeunes, des familles et des partenaires communautaires par l'élaboration et la mise en œuvre de programmes éducatifs. QUALIFICATIONS Diplôme en ergothérapie Inscription en règle auprès de l’Ordre des ergothérapeutes de l’Ontario Expérience de travail pertinente au cours des deux dernières années dans un milieu pédiatrique ou de soins de santé, avec des enfants et des jeunes ayant des besoins spéciaux de préférence Excellentes compétences de relations interpersonnelles, d’organisation et de communication verbale et écrite Permis de conduire de l’Ontario en vigueur et véhicule fiable Maîtrise de l’utilisation de logiciels et capacité de s’adapter pour effectuer des évaluations, préparer des documents, effectuer de la programmation et communiquer.
