Position Director, Corporate Finance and Control Employment Type Permanent Compensation Details Salary typically ranges from $127,380 to $169,838 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive. Location Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 3 days per week. (subject to change) This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, or Laval. Team Overview The Director, Corporate Finance and Control reports to the Vice‑President, Corporate Finance and Control. The team has overall accountability for accounting and reporting for loans, insurance, treasury, investments, tax, and pension in support of EDC’s compliance requirements. It consists of approximately 35 Financial Reporting and Accounting experts responsible for internal controls, adherence to IFRS, and regulatory compliance. What You Will Be Doing Establish and maintain accounting policies and controls; prepare financial reports. Perform general accounting activities and maintain financial records including general ledger, financial statements, regulatory and management reports. Analyze and report accounting transactions ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Ensure all reports and disclosures comply with government regulations, professional standards, and organization policies. Lead implementation of new IFRS. Use modern tools and techniques to streamline reporting processes. Develop and lead the performance and career development of assigned staff; provide indirect leadership across teams. Ensure adequate capacity and capability to address organizational needs. Partner closely with Enterprise Analytics and Forecasting; work with external auditors; liaise with Internal Audit. Support the Vice‑President on oversight of incentive measures. Demonstrate a customer‑focused, transparent, decisive culture. Influence a wide range of audiences and establish collaborative relationships. What We Are Looking For Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Professional accounting designation. Advanced knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles. Minimum 10 years’ experience in Corporate Finance and Control or related area. 5–10 years of leadership experience. Strong presentation and communication skills; ability to influence at all levels. Excellent leadership, coaching, and integrity. Superior oral and written communication across all levels. Ability to influence and build relationships across the organization. Bilingual in both official languages (English and French) for leadership roles. What Will Make You Stand Out Experience in a financial services and/or Crown corporation environment. Accounting experience in pension and taxation.
