Job SummaryReporting to the Manager, Line Maintenance, the Cabin Interior Furnishing Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of aircraft interior parts and components.Duties & ResponsibilitiesCarry out repair and maintenance on aircraft interior parts and components such as aircraft seats, tray tables, cushions, carpets, cabin interior lighting and commissary equipmentPerform maintenance under the supervision of the Line Maintenance ACA or AMEEnsure that all documentation used for the repair of parts/components are to the latest amendmentEnsure safety rules, regulations and precautions are being observed by all employeesEnsure the shop/hangar is tidy at the end of the shiftMaintain equipment/tools in good working conditionAssist in “on the job” training for new employees and apprenticesMaintain yourself up to date with all technical information required to carry out job dutiesActively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety PolicyAttend training as mandated by the companyAssist in AOG line maintenanceOther duties as assignedBehavioural CompetenciesConcern for Safety: Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.Teamwork: Working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals.Passenger/Customer Service: Providing service excellence to internal and/or external customers (passengers).Initiative: Dealing with situations and issues proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that arise.Results Focus: Focusing efforts on achieving high quality results consistent with the organization’s standards.Fostering Communication: Listening and communicating openly, honestly, and respectfully with different audiences, promoting dialogue and building consensus.QualificationsCompletion of secondary school is requiredA college diploma in aircraft maintenance from a Transport Canada approved educational facilityValid Ontario full “G” driver’s license (or out of province equivalent) and a clean driver's abstractMechanical experience an assetAble to lift at least 23kgHas completed approved training on the applicable parts/componentsMust also be knowledgeable of the provision set in the Canadian Aviation Regulations for the proper performance of his/her dutiesAbility to work on a permanent basis in CanadaAbility to make decisions and meet deadlines while handling multiple responsibilitiesDependability (must have a clear attendance record and reliable on time reporting for work)Energetic and a self-starterStrong mechanical aptitudeMust be able to obtain an unrestricted airport security passAble to work cohesively as part of a teamLocationOttawa (Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport - YOW) #LI-OnsiteCompany DescriptionSince 2006, Porter Airlines has been elevating the experience of economy air travel for every passenger, providing genuine hospitality with style, care and charm.
