Carpenter – St. John’s

Carpenters at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state Multi-Skilled Tradespeople use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a Multi-Skilled Tradesperson.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $28-$32/hour

What You’ll Do

• Finishing work and fine details, rough and trim
• Installation, doors, trim, moldings, baseboards and hardware
• Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
• Drywall repairs, mudding, sanding, taping and finishing
• Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim)
• Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
• Insulation and vapour barrier installation
• Cabinetry (removal, repair, reinstallation)
• Flooring installation and repairs
• Framing

What You Bring

• 5+ years doing interior carpentry repairs/restoration/rebuild focus (flood/fire damage)
• Ability to complete all rebuild needed in a single location
• Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers
• Refined skills with various in-home renovation repairs/restoration vs new build
• Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
• Tools and the skills to use them
• Strong people and communication skills
• A safety mindset
• Interest in cross training and willingness to help out all team members regardless if the job is related to carpentry duties
• Tech-savvy (comfortable using apps and software to record information)
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to pass a criminal record check
• Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken

Of Note:

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
