Join to apply for the Reactor Component Testing Engineer role at AtkinsRéalis 6 days ago – Be among the first 25 applicants Overview We are currently seeking Reactor Component Testing Engineers to support our ongoing and upcoming CANDU6 International Retube projects. This role is based out of the Candu Energy Inc. home office in Mississauga, Ontario. Responsibilities Self‑motivated and capable of working independently or under the instruction of a senior technical engineer, developing a career in the nuclear field. Follow instruction from a lead professional engineer to complete assigned mechanical‑related scopes or tasks and produce necessary engineering design documentation. Join the team to complete qualification testing of CANDU reactor components and systems, including Calandria Tubes and Fuel Channel assemblies. Collaborate with reactor component design engineers to understand verification‑testing requirements and prepare formal Test Plans and Test Reports for client and regulatory review. Integrate and coordinate work among reactor component design, tooling design, tooling fabrication, and testing organizations. Oversee testing, monitor progress, provide regular status reports to team lead and management, facilitate movement of test specimens from procurement to tooling to testing, and flag issues promptly. Perform engineering work according to AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs, applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Provide prompt responses and engineering resolutions on critical engineering matters. Complete assigned scopes or tasks within the given budget, schedule, and quality expectations. About You A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a university of recognized standing. Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (preferred). Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in mechanical engineering within a heavy industrial environment such as nuclear, mining, oil & gas, or power. Knowledge of mechanical systems or equipment, including CANDU design (Calandria Vessel and fuel channels preferred). Experience in design/qualification testing of mechanical components, including preparation of Test Plans and/or Test Reports. Previous design/testing experience with CANDU retube tooling systems is an asset. Working knowledge of CSA N285, N286, N299, ASME BPVC Section III, and other applicable standards related to design and testing of reactor components (preferred). Design engineering experience in vessels and/or equipment for nuclear power plants is preferable. Experience with procurement and expediting of test materials and services is an asset. Ability to apply technical principles logically to resolve engineering issues or technical problems. Excellent communication and technical writing skills, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Site experience in construction or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset. Willingness to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) if required (not a regular requirement).
