We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill a 2nd Class Power Engineer position within our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada.

  1. Provides coverage for Shift Engineer or Assistant Shift Engineer for vacations, illness, training or other absences as required (See Shift and Assistant Shift Engineers’ Job descriptions)
  2. Coordinates maintenance for department equipment
  3. Performs routine maintenance checks
  4. Diagnose problems and determine possible solutions on equipment
  5. Solve equipment problems for possible minor repairs
  6. Arrange for maintenance to repair equipment problems for more significant issues
  7. Provide advice and assist maintenance if possible
  8. Issues both QPA and DPA permits
  9. Maintains daily log sheets, operational data and charts for purposes of record keeping as legislated by the legislative requirements
  10. Ensures that all work performed is in accordance with plant Safety policies and procedures and Environmental standards, ensure that exhaust furnace gas being dispersed to the atmosphere meets standards

Qualifications

Education:

  • Must possess a valid 2nd Class Operating Engineer’s License, knowledge of Operating Engineers Act, Boilers, Pressure Vessels and fuels
  • Willing to accept a 3rd Class Power Engineer who is currently working towards receiving their 2nd Class Power Engineer certification
  • Knowledge of all applicable TSSA regulations
  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Power Engineering Technology or related field of study or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Strong knowledge of power generation / transmission technology, water and waste water treatment including processes, procedures and related systems in a plant environment
