Summary: The Core Logging Geologist reports directly to the Senior Mine Geologist and will perform geological logging of drill core, geological data collection and interpretation to support Keno Hill mine development and grade control processes. About Us: The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory, is one of the highest‑grade silver districts in the world. Situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, it lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na‑Cho Nyak Dun. Keno Hill covers 242 km² with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past‑producing mine sites. The mine is expected to produce 2.7‑3.1 million ounces of silver in 2025 as it ramps up production. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer and is a winner of numerous safety and environmental awards. What You Can Expect In This Role: Respect, know, and promote regulation and policies with regards to health and safety. Log drill core definition and grade control, including recovery and structural data, alteration/mineralization, and host rock descriptions. Ensure accurate entry of data into the geology database. Adhere to established drill core sampling and QA/QC procedures. Prepare samples for shipment to the lab as per Hecla’s procedures. Assist with daily tracking of underground drilling progress. Prepare interpretive geological cross‑sections and level plans integrating lithological, structural, historic mapping, and drilling data. Support the planning and implementation of the annual underground drilling program. Support ore grade control procedures as needed. Continuously build and maintain knowledge of relevant software packages including Deswik, Leapfrog, GeoSpark, acQuire, and Microsoft Office Suite. Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to underground mapping and chip sampling. Promote a strong environmental culture and teach environmentally friendly values and work practices. Promote a strong safety culture and exemplify safe work practices throughout the organization. Be part of a reliable team that has your back. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from a recognized Canadian University or equivalent. Legally entitled to work in Canada. Able to physically meet the requirement for the position, including standing for extended periods and moving core boxes. Minimum of 1 year diamond drill core logging experience. Experience in narrow‑vein precious metals geology and underground mining environments is considered an asset. Collaborative team player who works well in multidisciplinary teams. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Registered as, or able to be registered as, Geologist in Training. Experience with Leapfrog, GeoSpark, acQuire, and MS Office Suite is an asset but not required. Strong oral and written communication skills. Valid Class 5 driver’s license. Pre‑Employment Requirements: Pre‑Employment Testing (drug & alcohol, blood lead, audiogram). Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Clean Driver’s Abstract. Safety, Health, Environmental Responsibilities and Accountabilities: All Hecla personnel shall strive to achieve best practice in safety, health, and environmental matters and assist in the control of incidents, injuries, and loss. Duties include, but are not limited to, complying with safety or environmental requirements, reporting spills and hazards, using PPE, providing suggestions for improving work processes, assisting management with change, participating in risk assessment methodology and safety initiatives, receiving required training, and maintaining good housekeeping standards. Work Environment: Employees will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice, extreme temperatures, hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, explosives, electrical shock, vibration, and intermittent noise levels. Work Location & Schedule: This is a fly‑in fly‑out position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off. Camp accommodations and meals are provided while on site. All travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated from approved flight hubs. We primarily seek candidates who reside in Yukon, British Columbia, and Alberta, particularly near major transportation centers within these regions. Rotation schedule: 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off, 168 hours per rotation, 12‑hour shifts.
