OverviewJoin to apply for the Controls and HVAC Service Technician role at W3Global.Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Director of Commercial Sales & Marketing, the Controls and HVAC Service Technician is responsible for the following:Perform preventive maintenance and service on HVAC mechanical and controls systems.Conduct start-ups and commissioning of HVAC systems.Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive, timely service and providing technical solutions or recommendations.Carry out all work in accordance with the terms of the service contract.Support business growth by identifying opportunities and building strong customer relationships. ResponsibilitiesService and maintenance: Ensure all work complies with safety standards and procedures to maintain a safe working environment; perform preventative maintenance, service, and maintenance on HVAC mechanical and control systems; troubleshoot and repair HVAC mechanical and controls issues (refrigeration, ventilation, electrical, electronic, and digital controls); provide proactive service and recommendations for future repairs and improvements; identify opportunities for retrofits; complete and submit work order reports in a timely manner; schedule service work to ensure timely completion.Retrofit & New Installations: Ensure safety measures during retrofits, installations, and commissioning; conduct retrofits and installations of HVAC mechanical systems; perform startups, installations, and commissioning of HVAC mechanical and controls systems; scope technical details for new projects or retrofits and serve as the technical expert.Systems Diagnostics & Applications: Prioritize safety when diagnosing, starting up, and commissioning systems; understand how HVAC systems work to identify problems and provide practical solutions to fix issues or improve performance.Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service and develop key customer relationships by providing proactive service and recommendations; communicate effectively with customers and team members on work being performed.Coordination & Reporting: Receive work orders, prioritize and schedule tasks; close work orders upon completion and provide accurate reports to facilitate timely billing and processing.Ethics and Values: Adhere to company values and code of ethics, demonstrating professionalism and integrity. Qualifications & ExperiencePost-secondary education in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning with 1-3 years of experience in a service-oriented environment within a similar industry.Gas Fitter 1 Technician license or Oil Burner certification is an asset for candidates actively pursuing completion.Good knowledge of HVAC and controls systems, energy management systems to troubleshoot issues.Excellent customer service skills with the ability to develop relationships and generate new business.Good communication skills; ability to work with other trades on-site. Fluency in more than one language is an asset.Self-motivated with the ability to manage work orders and set priorities.Strong technical and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, mentor, and develop entry-level technicians. Working ConditionsAdheres to safety protocols to minimize risk and maintain a safe work environment.Frequent travel to job sites; potential overtime outside normal hours with minimal notice.Lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted when receiving and installing project materials.Environmental conditions including heat/cold, noise, and inclement weather.Repetitive motions and focus requirements (e.g., analyzing drawings, troubleshooting control systems, installing wiring).Climbing ladders, reaching, and bending during installation.
