Integrated Engineering Design (IED) GroupMorrison Hershfield’s Integrated Engineering Design (IED) group provides integrated engineering solutions to institutional, industrial, residential, and commercial clients with a focus on transit, telecom, waste management, higher education, and food/beverage facilities that require reliable and cost-effective infrastructure for both new and retrofit solutions.
Job Opening: Structural EngineerOur Alberta group is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing team. The position will be based in Calgary and will support the work within BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Responsibilities:- Act as a structural designer for small and medium-sized projects, with the intent to develop skills based on training and mentoring from senior engineers on staff
- Interpretation and application of design codes, building codes, and specifications
- Analyze, evaluate, and determine appropriate design solutions for all types of structures
- Check structural design calculations of senior engineers
- Attend site visits related to the condition assessment of existing structures and report on findings
- Interface with clients/contractors
- Prepare and review written reports
- Coordinate work with other disciplines including architectural, mechanical, and electrical groups
- Assist in tender evaluations and/or construction engineering services
- Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited university
- Master's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering will be considered an asset
- Minimum 4 years' experience in design using Canadian building codes and design standards
- P.Eng. status or able to become registered
- Experience in building design and renovation projects
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a benefit
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to work in a team environment and excel in multi-disciplined projects
