Senior Structural Engineer

OverviewAs a Senior Structural / Civil Engineer, you will lead and execute small to large-scale engineering projects from conceptual design, through tender to construction and operation. Our portfolio of projects includes water supply dams, hydraulic structures, municipal stormwater management infrastructure, irrigation canals, flood protection works, earth retention structures, river diversion works, surface drainage management facilities, hydro power facilities, slope stabilization, and tailings dams.Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) continues to expand and has an exciting future in several strategic markets in Canada and internationally. This role involves delivering projects within our portfolio that includes water infrastructure and civil works as described above.What we offerWork in a respectful and multidisciplinary team environment that fosters professional development and growth.Grow your skills in leadership and various roles on a wide variety of small and large-scale projects.Receive in-house and external training on technical, project management, safety, quality management, and business topics.Collaborate with KCB employees from other offices in Canada and from our international offices on large, technically-complex projects.Advance your career in a company committed to employee and public safety, technical excellence, and social and environmental sustainability.Travel to project locations, typically in Alberta, but also to other Canadian provinces and international locations.QualificationsAre registered or are eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in CanadaHave a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Structural or Civil EngineeringHave a minimum of 8 years of work experience in the design and construction of dams, hydraulic structures, and other water infrastructure and civil engineering projectsSkills and experience we valueExperience in the design, tendering, and construction of water infrastructure and civil works.Experience in completing structural designs in steel, concrete, and wood.Proficiency with the application of building and design codes to structural designs.Use of structural analyses software programs such as Midas, RISA, and SAP.Broad understanding of construction methods and constructability.Experience in administering construction contracts including completing submittals review and site inspections.Strong verbal and written communication skills including experience in contributing to proposals, technical reports, construction specifications, and project correspondence to convey technical information to clients and peers.Exceptional time management and organizational skills, and ability to lead others to deliver high quality project deliverables on time and within budget.Experience working with multi-disciplinary project teams.Knowledge of and experience in the application of CDA and other dam safety design guidelines, and other industry-recognized technical manuals or guidelines related to the design of hydraulic structures.Experience in dam safety inspections, dam safety reviews, failure mode and effects assessments, and risk assessments would be an asset.Commitment to mentoring and training junior team members.Collaborative team approach and ability to build long-term, successful relationships with clients and project teams.About UsKlohn Crippen Berger Ltd.
