OverviewObjectively Structured Clinical Evaluation (OSCE) Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) Bilingual Standardized ClientPrometric administers the Certification Examinations for registration as a Massage Therapist in Ontario. The examinations involve a Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) Examination and an Objectively Structured Clinical Evaluation (OSCE). The OSCE is administered in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, and is designed to assess candidates’ knowledge, skill, and judgement in a simulated clinical setting.RMT Standardized Clients portray clients that candidates interact with during the OSCE. RMT Standardized Clients are used in several OSCE stations involving assessment and treatment skills. Depending on the station(s) where you are assigned to perform, you will be subject to hands-on assessment (e.g., orthopedic testing, palpation, range of motion) and/or treatment skills (e.g., massage techniques, stretches, joint mobilization) by exam candidates seeking entry into the massage therapy profession. If assigned to a treatment station, you will be required to undress to your undergarments while receiving treatment; you will be covered by linens during the treatment process. Note: OSCE candidates are graduates from approved massage therapy programs who have not yet obtained a general certificate to practice massage therapy independently. RMT Standardized Clients take direction from OSCE trackers (i.e., supervisors) as well as from Prometric staff (e.g., Operations Manager, Content Specialist).Company BackgroundPrometric ( www.prometric.com ) is a trusted test development and delivery provider to more than 300 organizations worldwide. Prometric serves as an industry gatekeeper, ensuring that people legitimately earn the credentials they seek to achieve, and thereby guaranteeing a fair testing experience for all who come through our doors.ResponsibilitiesPerform the RMT Standardized Client role exactly as trained.Attend comprehensive mandatory training (both in-person and virtual training).Participate in retraining as required.Memorize scripted responses pertaining to the role.Maintain communication with Prometric staff regarding any injuries or limitations that may impact client ability to perform role as trained.Record detailed accounts of unusual or unanticipated events when instructed by Prometric staff.Assist in other duties from time to time to ensure a smooth and timely delivery of exams (e.g., monitor track, escort candidates on and off the track).Maintain confidentiality related to all aspects of exam involvement and exam materials.QualificationsEDUCATION/ PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONGraduate from an approved massage therapy program (or equivalent)Current General Certificate of Registration in good standing as an RMT in Ontario and, if selected for the role, will continue to practice.EXPERIENCEMinimum of five (5) years of massage therapy practiceMust not have taught in an approved Massage Therapy program in the last three years.Must not have a personal relationship or affiliation with any student who is currently or will be enrolled in an approved Massage Therapy program.Acting or previous standardized client experience is considered an asset.SKILLSPossess a strong understanding of the Interjurisdictional Practice Competencies and Performance Indicators for Massage Therapists at Entry to Practice (PC/PIs)Possess a strong understanding of the CMTO Standards of PracticeCommitted to maintaining integrity and ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.Must be Fluent in French and English.Adaptable and able to work well with others.Critical-thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to think and react quickly.Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.Able to listen and communicate clearly and effectively.Able to give and receive constructive feedback.Strong sense of ethics and accountabilityRepresent Prometric's vision, mission, and values.Time CommitmentCompletion of mandatory virtual training modules, 3-4 hours in March 2026Attendance at a mandatory station training, three (3) to six (6) days in April 2026 (training may use a combination of virtual and in-person modes)Availability for in-person OSCE administration dates between May and December 2026.Remuneration and ExpensesPaid for all time worked, including training.Applicable expenses related to travel, accommodation, and meals are eligible for reimbursement in accordance with the Prometric travel and expenses policies.Physical Job RequirementsYou must consent to physical touch by the candidate and be comfortable receiving hands-on treatment and/or assessment techniques.Depending on your assigned station, you may be prone or supine on a treatment table for 90-minute sessions.Washroom breaks are typically 90 minutes apart to avoid disrupting the exam schedule.You should be free from existing or previous injuries that could affect your ability to perform the physical demands of the role or that would place you at risk of (re)injury.Prometric promotes diversity in the workplace and is committed to ensuring that its recruitment and other personnel activities are fair and equitable.
