Position Description Reporting to the Camp Property Manager, the Summer Maintenance Crew Lead plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the KCA Youth & Family Wellness Camp property and facilities.

Working closely with the Property and Lands Manager and full‑time Maintenance crew, the Crew Lead supports the daily operations of the site and provides guidance to other Summer Maintenance crew. This individual is responsible for ensuring that all areas of the camp are properly maintained and prepared for events, programming, and daily use. Position Title Summer Maintenance Crew Lead Location 371 Strecker Road, Kenora, Ontario, P9N 4N8 Report To Camp Property Manager Contract May 4, 2026 – August 28, 2026 Hourly Rate $20.00/Hour (35 hrs/week) + Bonus, $1.00 for every hour worked if contract is completed Positions Available 1 Position Duties and Responsibilities Be a Role Model of Inspiration Arrive punctually each day, ready to set the standard for behavior and engagement. Fully engage in staff training sessions.

Wear the staff uniform (if provided), embodying the essence of camp professionalism. Model engaging and well‑planned activities that inspire campers and staff alike. Training & Professional Development Participate in YES Program training workshops and onboarding. Attend regular check‑ins and professional development sessions.

Complete all job‑specific training and demonstrate confidence in assigned cleaning tasks. Assist with the design and delivery of staff training, including orientation for summer staff. Provide mentorship and professional development throughout the summer, focusing on teaching skills, communication, and cultural awareness. Maintenance Crew Lead Works collaboratively with Youth & Family Wellness Camp Director, Managers, Chefs, Senior & Junior Program Staff, along with other KCA Staff on projects, events, and programs.

Carry out daily operations of land and facilities on‑site, under the direction of Property Manager. Liaise with staff to support the use of lands & facilities to carry out programming and events on site. Assist with organization, setup and takedown of events and programs on site. Work to clean up and prepare the property, outdoor spaces for programming services & events.

Assist with maintenance tasks; cleaning, painting, lawn care, stacking wood, minor repairs. Clean, maintain, restock, and sanitize all facilities on site on a regular basis. Work as part of a team to execute cleaning duties and to ensure that standards (of neatness/cleanliness) are maintained. Participate in regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and ensure safety compliance.

Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring stock levels. Learn and always adhere to safety protocols and procedures. Empty trash bins regularly and maintain cleanliness throughout the campsite. Ensure assigned cleaning tasks are completed promptly and efficiently.

Report any observed repair needs to the supervisor promptly. Assist in general property maintenance tasks as directed. Other Duties as Assigned Willingness to adapt working hours based on needs of program. Be flexible and adaptable, ready to support program operations in any capacity required.

Qualifications

Ability to work independently and in a team setting. Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and language and experience in working in an Indigenous community or organization considered an asset. Must be willing to travel when required. Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search.

First Aid qualifications (minimum of Emergency First Aid) is an asset or must be willing to obtain certificate prior to commencement of work assignment. Valid driver’s license and vehicle. Willing to travel when required.

Understanding of the Ojibway language is an asset. Criteria Between the ages of 15 to 24. Be available for the whole summer. Identity as Indigenous – Asset: Treaty 3.
