OverviewAccounting Supervisor – Vernon, BC (On-Site)Kal Tire Vernon is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join our team. The role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with supervisory oversight of the accounting team that supports the Canadian Mining Tire Group, Retread, and Tire Stewardship reporting. The incumbent will participate in the preparation, review, and analysis of financial information while guiding others to ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and IFRS. The position works closely with Divisional management to ensure the integrity of financial data and provides high-level customer service on ad-hoc projects.Core ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership: Provides support, guidance and oversight of the accounting activities that support MTG and Retread Divisional reporting.Provides support, guidance, and supervision over tire stewardship reporting.Participates in the planning and execution of projects that impact Accounting.Provides mentorship to team members.Assists others in the performance of their duties as required.Accounting and Financial ReportingPrepare or review branch-level, divisional and legal entity financial statements.Undertake analysis and resolution of more complex/non-routine accounting issues.Review account reconciliations prepared by other team members.Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts on the organization’s books of account.Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for any accounting entries.Ensure compliance with established internal controls, identify gaps and propose solutions as required.Finance Business Process and System ImprovementsSeek opportunities to automate or streamline business processes and collaborate with other business units to improve processes.Work with Information Systems stakeholders to research, analyze potential solutions, and perform fit-gap assessments.Map “as is” and “to be” business processes using standard tools (process maps, flow charts, use cases).Financial Performance Analysis for Management Decision MakingUnderstand Kal Tire’s business from a Finance perspective.Collaborate with management to identify information needed for decision-making.Analyze data and summarize findings to identify key performance issues and support management decisions.Work ExperienceMinimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting.Minimum 2 years supervising teams.Public Accounting experience is considered an asset.Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesStrong technical IFRS knowledge with practical application for financial information users.Critical thinking, analysis, and reasoning abilities.Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.Advanced Excel skills.Experience with full-feature accounting systems.Experience with developing Power BI dashboards is a plus.EducationCPA designation is required.What We OfferTarget compensation for this role is CA$88,270 to CA$102,640 per year based on experience.Extended group health, dental, and vision benefits for eligible employees.Employee Assistance ProgramGroup RRSP/DPSP matching programDiscount on tires and mechanical servicesPositive work culture, opportunities for growth and development, and work-life balanceProfessional development opportunities, including training programs, mentorship, and tuition reimbursementTo be considered, candidates must be legally eligible to work for any Canadian employer.
