Our client is a global Retail Display specialist, who deliver projects for some of the world’s leading brands and retailers.

They’re currently looking to add an experienced Technical Designer to the team.

You should be able to produce high quality manufacturing ready drawings, from visualised retail concepts. You’ll need extensive knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, and costs.

Ideally you will have experience in Retail Design, although not essential. Our client uses Solidworks, so a proficiency in that or similar is an absolute must. Experience in the Consumer Electronics industry would be advantageous to the role.

About
  • Work closely with the conceptual designer to realise the chosen design
  • Produce 3D models and manufacturing drawings using Solidworks
  • Sketch solutions to assembly/manufacturing challenges for estimation purposes
  • Ensure that projects are kept within the budget, actively looking for cost-saving opportunities during the design development
  • Support Project Buyers in developing the appropriate combination of design and suppliers, ensuring projects meet the manufacturing capabilities
  • Manage the build of your prototypes, ensuring the product is presented to the client on time and to the highest quality
  • Factory visits to verify display unit construction, specification and quality
  • Produce project documentation in line with company defined processes
  • Create designs that are fit for purpose, adhering to any client requirements / health & safety needs
  • Ensure relevant project information is circulated to all relevant parties
Skills and Experience
  • 4+ years’ experience in the POP/ fixture design industry
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience in designing for manufacture with metal, wood and plastics
  • Process driven with the ability to develop designs
  • Highly proficient in Solidworks (or similar) and MS Office programmes
  • Good sketching ability and excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, organised, and good time management
  • A good communicator, with a positive approach to problem solving
  • Able to work flexible hours and available to travel, when necessary
