The Team The Team The Billing Integrity team tackles complex billing reviews that help safeguard the fairness and accuracy of our health care system. The team includes a Senior Director, an Audit Manager, two audit team leads, seven senior auditors, and two administrative staff, and works closely with the medical consultant, medical inspectors, legal counsel, data analysts, and others across the ministry. Their work has a clear impact—recovering ineligible payments and supporting the long-term sustainability of the Medical Services Plan. It’s a skilled and collaborative team that stays flexible and consistently supports one another. The Role The Role As a Medical Consultant, you’ll use your clinical experience to support fair and accurate billing across the health care system—reviewing audits, advising on cases, and helping guide important decisions. You’ll be part of a thoughtful, multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, diverse perspectives, and meaningful impact. This is a role where your expertise supports not just policy, but people—helping strengthen trust and fairness in health care for both practitioners and patients. Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements Doctor of Medicine (M.D) or equivalent. Must currently be licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC), or another regulatory college in a Canadian province or territory. If successful, the applicant must be eligible for licensure with the CPSBC. In good standing with licensing bodies. Three (3) years of clinical experience, within the last five (5) years. Preference may be given to candidates who have one or more of the following: Five (5) or more years’ clinical experience, within the last five (5) years. Experience in handling potentially controversial or sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy. Experience in government or medical administration. Experience with research and data analysis. Experience with managing MSC Payment Schedules Experience working in the health care system in British Columbia or elsewhere in Canada. Preference will be given to candidates who identify as Indigenous (e.g., First Nations, Métis or Inuit). Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above. An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
